Fri 18 Oct JAMIE -LEE DIMES // DIRT HAND

Jamie-Lee Dimes and Dirt Hand hit the road on a mini Australian tour kicking off Friday the 13th of September.

Join us as we bring some hypnotic, ethereal, folk melancholy to a city or town near you.

A haunting and melancholic whisper, transcending beyond the graves of 60’s rock and roll – Jamie-Lee Dimes authentically embodies an entire generation’s obsession with nostalgia.Returning home after her first North American tour, Californian based Australian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, is back to release and tour new music, after spending the first four months of 2019 in the recording studio with Mick Turner from Dirty Three working on a new full-length album.

Dirt Hand combines traditional balladry with process experimentation to create a sound like Nina Simone bludgeoning Paul Simon over the head with a velvet lampshade.

They first appeared in 2015 with the release of the Dirt Hand EP. The 5 tracks therein were well received locally, appearing in a handful of independent films and seeing Dirt Hand play alongside a host of national heroes.

2 years later Dirt Hand was back with The Thorn Variations, a ferocious, new improv-based band process that has been described variously as “an inspired and fully textured tentative tightrope for Roberts’ deep growling storytelling” and “one of those golden bullets of ratification for the extraordinary”.
