Hachiku & The Eastern acknowledge the Wadawurrung as the traditional custodians of the land on which this show takes place and pay our respects to their Elders past & present.

Melbourne dream pop outfit Hachiku have just released their debut album ‘I’ll Probably Be Asleep’ on Milk! Records and are finally able to tour and celebrate its release.
Expect a a full band performance showcasing old-time EP favourites, crowd sing-a-longs and fresh tunes off their new LP.

‘Hachiku’s ethereal and catchy melodies, highly tasteful, textural guitar playing and shimmering walls of sound create a unique brand of left of centre shoegaze, with each song taking the listener on a melodic journey’ (THE MUSIC, Australia).

Hachiku is the brainchild of German bedroom-producer Anika Ostendorf who writes and produces her home-made dream pop (think: Grimes, Perfume Genius and early CocoRosie) from whichever bedroom she is currently inhabiting.

Hachiku’s self-recorded, self-mixed and self-titled debut EP was released on Australian label Milk! Records in June 2017. Since then Anika has taken her catchy melodies, highly tasteful, textural guitar playing and shimmering walls of sound across the world supporting Courtney Barnett on her 2020 USA solo tour, performing at Iceland Airwaves 2019 as well as touring with the likes of The Breeders, José González, Jen Cloher and Snail Mail.

“Loss, long-distance romance, arguments with climate change deniers and bureaucratic immigration processes: On I’ll Probably Be Asleep, the debut album from dream pop artist Hachiku, even the topics usually relegated to inflammatory newspaper op-eds take on new depth and heart.” – NME
