Chop chop! Cong Josie & The Crimes are revvin and choppin their way to Ballarat for one night only!

The debut LP, CONG! came out late last year to rave reviews. It won Triple R’s coveted ‘Album of The Week’ and it was among The Guardian’s best Australian records of 2021. Like the live show, CONG! traverses a hyperreal world of romance, sleaze, smoke and gyrating hips. Below this, throbbing synth rhythms and early rock ‘n’ roll kicks simmer and shake. Pitchfork recently described the LP as “a heady, gleefully ridiculous piece of genre pastiche held together by … flamboyance and predilection for showmanship.” Cong Josie’s music is also deeply personal however, with much of the music inspired by therapy sessions – leading to songs of introspection and inner-demon exorcisms!

Together with his band The Crimes, Cong has been wowing audiences with his ‘leave-it-all-out-there’ sweat-fuelled stage (chairs, tables, floor) manner. From electronic stompers to post-punk swampers and Lynchian romance it will take you places. The Eastern is in for one hell of a steamy rodeo-rave-up!
